H2ID Waveform Atlas – Version 2B

 

This Atlas provides practical knee-aware complementary waveform solutions for RF power amplifiers operating with second-harmonic input distortion. Instead of performing extensive harmonic-load exploration, designers can directly identify high-efficiency operating points, waveform shapes, and associated harmonic terminations across the H2ID design space.

The atlas can save weeks of harmonic-load exploration and waveform synthesis work.

KEY INSIGHTS

  • Efficiency depends on H2ID magnitude and phase.

  • Different power factors for the different sets of complementary waveforms. Two operating points with similar efficiency may differ significantly in obtainable output power.

  • Trade-off between power and efficiency because of the transistor knee at each operating point. 

  • Some regions must be avoided.

  • 90% efficiency achievable at some operating points.
